SEND Compass wasn't born in a boardroom; it was born from lived experience. When Colin and his wife Abbey's first child was born and diagnosed with Down Syndrome, they expected a roadmap of support. Instead, they found themselves in a maze of confusion — facing a lack of clear information, fragmented services, and the feeling of being left in the dark.
The turning point came when Colin and Abbey discovered a small network of local charities. For the first time, they were integrated into a community of families who truly understood their journey. This connection was a lifeline — providing not just information, but hope.
Colin realised that finding help shouldn't depend on "luck" or happening to find the right local group. He saw a systemic gap in how SEND information was shared across the UK, and he knew things had to change.
Colin created SEND Compass to ensure that no family ever feels lost again. Our goal is to replace the "darkness" of uncertainty with a digital lighthouse — a single point of access for support, rights, and resources.
